Meet Heather

I'm Heather Keeler, and I'm ready to take my passion and dedication to Congress.

Since I was sworn into the Minnesota House in 2021, I have been a consistent, persistent advocate for the needs of Western Minnesota.

But that’s not where my story started. I grew up in a rural community, the daughter of a Vietnam vet. I’m the proud mom of two boys. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

I have spent more than 25 years working in healthcare and education, dedicating my personal, professional, and political life to being a voice for people who aren’t often heard. I have worked diligently to challenge systems that keep people like us from getting ahead.

If you want to know who I am, look at my record in Saint Paul. But don’t stop there--look at how I show up for people.

As an Assistant DFL Floor Leader and co-Vice Chair on Human Services Finance and Policy committee, as well as serving on the Education Policy and Health Finance Policy committees, Representative Keeler has focused on passing bipartisan legislation and securing critical funding for Greater Minnesota.

Here is a look at just some of her record of effective leadership:

  • Tackling Housing and Homelessness: As the former Vice Chair of the Preventing Homelessness Division of the Housing Committee, Rep. Keeler played a central role in crafting policies to increase access to affordable housing and resources for local organizations helping families and individuals experiencing homelessness. She secured nearly $40 million in funding for workforce housing in Greater Minnesota.

  • Championing Human Services: Rep. Keeler authored unanimously passed legislation to allocate $5 million in emergency funding for emergency food shelves, ensuring our neighbors have access to the basic necessities they need.

  • Supporting Students: As the Chair of the Student Attendance and Truancy Legislative Study Group, Rep. Keeler has worked with students, parents, educators, administrators, and other stakeholders to improve systems so that all of our kids get the resources and support they need to get to school every day.

  • Addressing Healthcare and Economic Issues: Rep. Keeler understands that families need leaders who will fight to lower costs and take on entrenched systems. Her work has consistently advocated for greater healthcare access, including bringing a regional psychiatric residential treatment facility to Clay County, which will focus on meeting complex mental health needs for youth under 21.

As the only DFL State House Representative in CD7, Heather Keeler has a documented record of working across the political spectrum to get big things done for western Minnesota. We know what she’ll do in D.C., because we can see what she has done in Saint Paul.

"I believe we must come together, fight alongside each other for the future we want, and lead with love."
